Not getting too far ahead of ourselves as this is West Ham and we don't do things the easy way, but there's a pretty decent chance we'll be top again on Friday.

Always a lovely moment when it fleetingly happens. I guess we have a few more hours of it until Man City dispatch Sheffield United.
Question- anyone know what is the latest in a season in the premier league era and pre premier league we have ever been top of the league?
In the PL era it can’t be much later than now. A whopping three games in.

I thought that too, although we were massively playing catch up with games weren’t we. It’s probably almost certainly the latest ever in a season before the PL era. Is this the latest (three whole games in!) in the PL era?

I read that we've been top of the table in the premier league twice before; two seasons ago and in the Tevez season, both coming after two matches.

I would have cheered if I knew they had scored against Millwall so I may have been pleased about a Sheffield United goal in the past.
However I definitely cheered that one.

In 1983/84 we won our first five games and were therefore top of the league for a few weeks. I think we were toppled after losing our following two games.
